Extensive line-up for Manchester music festival
01/08/2006
After initial problems with funding, Manchester's Dpercussion music festival is set to get underway at the weekend.
A host of local musical talent is on hand to entertain the city at Castlefield Arena and surrounding areas on Saturday August 4th from 12:00 BST to 22:30 BST.
Bands such as Aim, the Longcut, the Pipettes and the Whip will be making appearances at the festival, which requires a £2 donation on entry.
There will be three main stages hosting the action, as well as a number of bars in Castlefield. The after-show party will be taking place in the Music Box on Oxford Road, but tickets need to be bought in advance.
Dpercussion's roots lie in the wake of the IRA bomb that exploded in Manchester city centre ten years ago.
The festival was launched to demonstrate the city's determination and resilience in the face of adversity.
Earlier this year, the festival looked uncertain to take place after it emerged the organisers were around £40,000 short in funding. However, last minute sponsors ensured the event was not cancelled.
