18/08/2006
Manchester City Council is looking to build on the success it has experienced in economic growth and regeneration.
The council hopes to "achieve further excellence" for the people who "enjoy living, studying and investing in Manchester".
A recent Audit Commission inspection of the city and council describes Manchester as an ambitious council that concentrates on looking after its people.
Manchester executive member, councillor Sue Murphy, said: "This is a good result for Manchester and we are determined to continue to improve our work to make life better for local people.
"Manchester wants to be in the top rank of international conurbations, winning even more investment and jobs to benefit our local communities."
She added that the council is looking forward to Manchester seeing "greater benefits in the near future".
The city's council has recently invested £3.1 million in the Manchester Adult Education Service to help fund the 2006-07 academic year.
