Manchester enjoys digital growth
17/10/2008
Manchester digital businesses are growing despite the current economic gloom.
This is according to a survey by trade association Manchester Digital, whose findings are reported in Crain's Manchester Business.
Some 200 digital businesses were polled in the study, out of an estimated 1,200 in Greater Manchester.
While reduced client budgets and lowered confidence posed short-term worries, just a small number of respondents had suffered from the turmoil in the property and financial industries.
In fact, two-thirds expect to grow over the next year and most reported an increase in business enquiries over recent months.
According to Manchester Digital chair Shaun Fensom, the digital sector in Greater Manchester is "being seen as an increasingly important area of business to the local economy".
A not-for-profit organisation, Manchester Digital is not part of the public sector but says it has good connections with policy makers.
