More big names added to Tony Wilson event
24/04/2008
More big names have been added to the creative line-up for Reification - the Tony Wilson Experience, which is being held this summer in memory of the Salford-born music mogul who died last year.
Alan McGee, the founder of Creation Records, and popular broadcaster and journalist Stuart Maconie have both agreed to participate.
The 24-hour event, which starts at 12:00 BST on June 21st, is being billed as Manchester's "longest intelligent conversation". It will take place before a selected audience of up to 200 young people from across Greater Manchester.
Last month it was confirmed that comedy actor Steve Coogan and broadcaster Mark Radcliffe had pledged their support, along with New Order bassist Peter Hook and artist Liam Spencer.
Vicky Rosin, a culture spokesperson for Manchester city council, said: "Unique and unmissable, this event promises be the talk not just of 24 hours but of the whole summer that follows."
Wilson was the founder and manager of the iconic Hacidenda nightclub and a tireless promoter of the north-west cultural scene. He died on August 10th 2007 from a heart attack.
