New police commander appointed in Bury

Bury police have appointed Chief Superintendent Jon Rush as the new Divisional Commander after the transferral of Chief Superintendent David Anthony to south Manchester.

Chief Superintendent Rush worked for Cumbria Constabulary for 24 years and has worked on a number of projects including strategies to protect vulnerable people in local communities.

Commenting on the new role, he said: "Bury has a fantastic team of police officers and staff who are dedicated to providing a first class service to all members of our community and I will continue to ensure that Bury is a safer and more pleasant place to live, work and visit."

In his statement on the Greater Manchester police website, Chief Superintendent Rush explained that the new Bury Town Partnership is now operating which will build on the town's reputation as "one of the safest places in Greater Manchester to live".

Chief Superintendent Rush began working in his new position on January 7th.
