Online entrepreneur courses launched

08/01/2008

Would-be online entrepreneurs in Manchester are being offered the opportunity to acquire tips about selling goods and services on the web.

A free course is available to residents and small businesses based in the city and aims to show how it is possible to reach millions of potential customers.

The course lasts four weeks and lessons will be taught by experienced traders who have the knowledge of how to attract buyers, maximise profits and monitor sales.

Manchester councillor Sue Murphy said: "The internet opens up exciting opportunities for budding entrepreneurs...but it is also somewhere that inexperienced sellers can make costly mistakes."

The courses are being run at venues across the city, including various libraries and learning centres.

Meanwhile, the University of Salford has launched a new centre called Exchange, which is a new learning environment for people who want to know more about community regeneration.

Julia Lucas, director of Exchange, said: "We'd like to offer people the chance to take stand-alone modules or short courses on regeneration as and when they can."
