Ranson revises Man City takeover bid
26/04/2007
Former Manchester City football player Ray Ranson has made a revised takeover bid for the club, after his initial proposal was met with concerns by board members.
Ranson issued a statement to the London Stock Exchange confirming the revised bid, "with a view to making a possible offer for the club".
Yesterday the club expressed doubts about the original offer as there were several conditions that could not easily be fulfilled.
However, Ranson has said the new offer "addresses the club's stated concerns about conditionality".
It was thought that his first proposal came to £90 million and covered loans of more than £20 million to major shareholders John Wardle and David Makin, but the club has dismissed such claims.
Ranson, 46, a multi-millionaire who has tried to buy Aston Villa on two occasions, made over 200 appearances for Man City.
It has also been reported that Thaksin Shinawatra, the former prime minister of Thailand, has made tentative overtures in buying the club.
