Salford and BBC Philharmonic 'get creative'
02/10/2007
A Manchester design company has been hired to publicise the partnership between the BBC Philharmonic orchestra and the City of Salford.
Creative Spark will promote the benefits of Salford's sponsorship of the musical icon and alert the city's residents to the possibilities of marketing Salford as a place for the arts to flourish.
A number of images have been produced, one of which shows two musicians playing their instruments while the construction of the media city at Salford Quays gets underway.
Neil Marra, agency director, said the city council wants a "genuine local flavour for the campaign".
"The images we created have a pleasant community feel, but we also wanted something that makes you look twice and I think we achieved that."
As part of the sponsorship agreement, the orchestra will be branded with the phrase 'Making music IN Salford'.
The orchestra will move its home from Broadcasting House in Manchester to the new media city in 2011.
