Shameless writer talks to budding Manc scribes
06/03/2007
Paul Abbott, writer of TV series Shameless, spoke to budding future scribes at the G-Mex in a packed out media event.
Abbott was in conversation with Media Training North West chief executive Lynne McCadden and spoke about the future of writing talent in the region, reports Netribution.
He commented on his new Writer's Studio which will take five new writers at a time and teach them on how to hone their craft.
Mr Abbott said: "Now is one of the most exciting and best times to be a trainee in this city [Manchester].
"In the next five years there will be so many more opportunities. But you would not believe how few people there are around right now, new people, bringing new ideas."
He added that those interested in getting involved with the Writers' Studio should write a "top notch script" and return it to them.
Shameless is set in the fictional Chatsworth Estate in Manchester and is filmed on location in Gorton, east Manchester.
