Doherty plays for Iron Mike in Manchester
22/03/2006
Rock 'n roll's naughty boy met boxing's bad guy in Manchester this week, after confused rocker Pete Doherty met 'Iron' Mike Tyson at a city hotel.
And the former world heavyweight boxing champion was delighted to receive a personal performance from the Babyshambles singer, who played a few songs for Tyson after the two started chatting.
Doherty, in town to discuss a possible advertising deal with Mancunian urban clothing firm Gio-Goi, met Tyson in the hotel bar before giving an impromptu show for the former boxer.
An insider told The Sun: "They were getting on really well so Tyson asked Pete to play some songs for him.
"Pete always has an acoustic guitar with him so he played two or three Babyshambles numbers.
"He got a great response. Tyson loved every minute of it and gave Pete a round of applause."
Tyson was in Manchester to referee a cage-fighting event at the Manchester Arena.
Doherty then apparently went to Oxfam Originals in the city where he bumped into DJ Wes from the Zumebar on Oxford Road.
The DJ jokingly suggested Doherty should DJ a set at the club's Up The Racket night on Monday, to which Doherty allegedly agreed.
Not only that, but he offered to play a live acoustic set as well much to his fans' delight.
