Manchester prepares for Sir Tom Jones
03/04/2006
Legendary Welsh crooner and flying-knickers magnet Tom Jones has announced he will be coming to the Manchester Arena to perform this autumn.
One of the world's most famous singers, Tom Jones has been hitting the high and low notes for decades but still knows how to charm the ladies with the Queen this week awarding him a knighthood at Buckingham Palace.
Some of Jones' most enduring hits, such as What's New Pussycat, It's Not Unusual, Help Yourself and, of course, Delilah, have been a longstanding part of his live shows which have wowed audiences across the globe since the mid-1960s.
And one of the most recognisable images in modern music is the one of the deep voiced-Welshman mopping his brow with the female underwear he was regularly pelted with.
The now Sir Tom Jones is due to arrive in Manchester to perform at the Manchester Arena on Friday October 13th this year, as part of his most recent tour.
In 2005 Jones celebrated his 65th birthday along with 40 years in the music industry but the Welshman shows no signs of letting up, despite reaching retirement age.
"I'll be around until the green, green grass is turned into a car park," he said.
